Tilburgs Kunstenaarsproject 2024
In November 2024, Maikel participated in the Tilburgs Kunstenaarsproject and its accompanying exhibition at Galerie De Roos. Alongside 39 other artists, he created a painting inspired by the work of the Brabant artist Jan Sluijters. Maikel was particularly captivated by how Sluijters depicted skies and trees in his Herfstlandschap bij Laren (Autumn Landscapes near Laren) studies from circa 1910. The color palette of Sluijters’ skies is reflected in this painting, as are the autumnal hues in the trees. This aligns seamlessly with Maikel’s recognizable color use and brushstroke style. The painting was sold during the exhibition.
