Oil painting of Cockerill-Sambre factory

This oil painting was created by Maikel specifically for the art exhibition Tilburgs Kunstenaarsproject: Jan Sluijters, where 40 artists from the Tilburg region produced work inspired by the oeuvre of the Brabant artist Jan Sluijters. Maikel was particularly struck by the colors and brushwork in the skies of Sluijters’ Herfstlandchappen bij Laren series from 1910. This use of color aligns perfectly with Maikel’s vibrant palette. The painting, depicting the former steel factory Cockerill-Sambre in Liège (Luik), will be on display at Galerie De Roos in Tilburg throughout November 2024 as part of the Tilburgs Kunstenaarsproject exhibition.
